PRE-BUDGET SUBMISSIONS

Each year, the CSA participates in the pre-budget process at both the provincial and federal level.  Below are our submissions to either the Ontario Standing Committee on Finance & Economic Affairs and federal Standing Committee on Finance.

2010

Unlocking Ontario’s Potential: Applied Learning Central to Economic Growth
As Ontario begins to recover from the current recession and economic downturn, the CSA in its 2010 Pre-budget submission felt it was important to be strategic and focused to two important areas: Per Student Funding and Affordability. See Full

2009

Canada Rebranded: Strong Investments for Greater Returns
Given the current economic crisis facing Canada and the need for stronger competitiveness, the CSA has provided the federal Standing Committee on Finance with solid recommendations to speed up Canada’s economic recovery. See Full

The Forecasted Drought
With limited resources at the Ontario government’s deposal, the CSA has proposed smarter ways of facing the economic downturn, in the Forecasted Drought. See Full

2008

Maximinizing Our Human Potential
This submission to the Ontario Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs highlights the importance of ensuring postsecondary education remains affordable and accessible. Ontario must do more to attract and retain all Ontarians in colleges and universities. See Full

Closing the GAP
With the federal government indicating a strong economic outlook for the country, the CSA feels we must focus our efforts on ensuring that under represented portions of our Canadian population are not left further behind because of a lack of postsecondary education and skills development. See Full

2007

Building Prosperity & Capacity
This submission tries to focus government spending on increasing or improving current levels of funding for operating, student financial aid, transferability and college applied research. If the government was to increase or improve its commitment to these areas, we would see Ontario becoming more prosperous into the future. See Full

2006

Investing in Tomorrow’s Future
Following the government’s Reaching Higher investments of the previous budget, the CSA is looking for further investments to expand capacity and open opportunities to all Ontarians. See Full

PSE: Canada’s Foundation for Economic Prosperity
Over the last decade Canada has let its investments in postsecondary education diminish and now we have to either sit around and place blame or actually do the responsible thing and fix it. This submission to the federal Standing Committee on Finance is all about setting a plan for re-investment. See Full

Building Today for Tomorrow
Highlighting recommendations made by former Premier Bob Rae, this pre-budget submission encourages the government to move forward with multi-year commitments for postsecondary education. See Full
