Student Spotlight: Alyssa Berry

Alyssa Berry is currently working toward a bachelor of sciences in nursing at Sault College in collaboration with Laurentian University. Berry was awarded the CSA Leadership Scholarship due to her passion for helping others.

Berry works diligently to help students feel comfortable in the classroom. She’s currently a mentor and peer tutor for first-year students in her program, creating beneficial experiences for both herself and students. Berry’s leadership extends past the walls of Sault College, however. She’s been active in the Sault. Ste. Marie community for years, participating in fundraising events like CIBC’s Run for the Cure and Relay for Life.

“Being a student leader has enhanced my college student experience because it allows me to partake in something bigger than myself,” said Berry. “I am so grateful for the many opportunities that Sault College and my community have offered me and it makes me feel good to know that I am helping and meeting new people every single day.”

Being a volunteer and student leader has helped Berry in many ways. She has made new connections, helped her peers, and built her confidence – essential skills for her desired field.

“Winning this award means so much to me because it has allowed me to reflect upon past experiences and realize the true meaning of a leader,” she said. “It makes me feel amazing that I have been recognized for such a great award and everything that it stands for.”

CSA is proud to award Alyssa Berry with the 2016 CSA Leadership Scholarship. Congratulations!
