Student leaders donate $500 to the Kennedy House Youth Shelter

Through May 10th-15th, student leaders from across Ontario gathered in Toronto for CSA’s May Changeover Conference, hosted by Centennial College Student Association Inc. After an evening of site-seeing in the city, two conference delegates from the Student Union of Confederation College Inc. (SUCCI) were disheartened by how many in-need individuals they saw. They were compelled to help.

Over the course of the conference, a total of $500 was donated from student leaders to give to a local shelter. After speaking with local students, the Kennedy House Youth Shelter was selected as the recipient.

The Kennedy House Youth Shelter is located in East York and is the only youth shelter in the east end of Toronto. Youth ages 16-24, who are homeless with complex needs, can find a safe and healthy living environment. The shelter addresses many issues of homeless youth; they offer programming that helps the youth stay healthy as well as access jobs, permanent housing, clothing and other supplies to assist them as they transition to other living arrangements. You can learn more about the Kennedy House Youth Shelter here.

Today, members of CSA staff were honoured to visit the Kennedy House Youth Shelter and present the donation to Tracey Hardinge, Manager of Shelter Services. Thank you to each outstanding student leader who donated to this overwhelmingly deserving organization.
