Welcome to CSA’s new blog! This space will be used to promote the best in student leadership, advocacy efforts and must-know news in Ontario’s postsecondary sector. We’re starting things off by shining the spotlight on each one of this year’s CSA Leadership Scholarship winners.
CSA’s Leadership Scholarship made its debut five years ago. Since then, we’ve awarded over $75,000 in scholarship funds to deserving Ontario college students. Confederation College’s 2016 recipient is Jordan Vezeau, and CSA had the opportunity to speak with him.
Meet Jordan.
Jordan Vezeau is committed to his community. Currently completing his third year of Human Resources at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, he sits on Boards both on and off his college campus. His goal is to complete his placement at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre; fitting for someone brimming with passion to help others.

From his first year, Vezeau has been involved in numerous extra-curricular and volunteer activities. He currently serves as student representative for the Human Resources program, delivering information between classmates and the Student Union of Confederation College (SUCCI). His involvement with SUCCI initiated his relationship with the College Student Alliance (CSA).
“I learned one of my classmates, Tanner Bell, was associated with CSA as Northern Director,” said Vezeau. He was inspired to apply thanks to Bell and his co-worker, Jennifer, from his part-time employment on campus.
“Jennifer, who has been a significant support during my studies, also brought it to my attention and told me to go for it,” said Vezeau. “Given the mountains Jennifer has moved and her generous nature, I not only respected her opinion but felt I owed it to her and myself to at least consider it. The 1000 Words for 1000 Dollars seemed like a good challenge for me so I went for it.”
Though a challenge, writing the essay proved worth it for Vezeau. “To me, the award means many different things. It not only gives me confidence that I am on the right path, but it also provides me with assurance during a critical period in my life. It gives me motivation and reason to keep going with initiatives I have taken and goals I have set,” Vezeau said of winning CSA’s Leadership Scholarship.
On behalf of CSA’s membership, we would like to congratulation Vezeau on his win.
